Notebook of Josiah Jones (also known as Josiah Brynmair) of Gomer, Allen County. His work as an undertaker and a farmer is recorded here as he used it as a daybook recording financial accounts, but the notebook also reveal that he is a learned man, paying for subscriptions to periodicals such as Y Drych and Y Cenhadwr. The accounts also demonstrate that a large number of babies and children were buried during this period as diseases such as malaria were common before they drained the area of Gomer known as the Great Black Swamp.
